ANITUA Group of Companies is a 100 per cent locally-owned company that was established in 1989 to provide landowners a means to participate in the Lihir gold mine project on Lihir Island, New Ireland.
Today, Anitua group is the largest single supplier of goods and services to a broad range of industries across Papua New Guinea.
Anitua works with its business partners and clients every day to not only break new ground, but to constantly push the boundaries, looking for better ways of servicing its clients’ needs.
In line with this business model, Anitua, in partnership with Lihir company Nenelam Ltd, opened a new retail shop at the GRH shopping complex at Gumur in Kokopo, East New Britain.
The official opening of the shopping complex was last Friday with Anitua Group chief executive officer Daniel Kaima, chief director Patrick Labongis, Nenelam Ltd director Tony Sarik, Kokopo city manager Freddy Lemeki and representatives from various business houses in Kokopo were there to witness the event.
The shopping complex was officially opened by Lemeki on behalf of the Kokopo mayor Benjamin Mesmin Murliu.
During the opening Labongis said Anitua Express would offer shoppers a one-stop shop, 24-hour retail experience.
The convenience shop stocks a range of everyday item such as soft drinks, toiletries, confectionary, snacks, prepacked frozen meat, dairy products and liquor.
The bakery offers fresh Anitua bread at 6am with coffee and an enticing range of pastry products.
Labongis said the butchery would be open until 8pm.
Anitua Express offers its valued customers safe after hours shopping at their shop.
Labongis said as the director for Anitua he was happy to partner with the province especially Kokopo as they brought economic development to the city.
“Kokopo is declared the fourth city and let us all work together to bring this city to be a model city in the country,” he said.
“Kokopo is not only the capital city for East New Britain but it is for the New Guinea Islands so we are to work in partnership to bring economic development to our city.”
Labongis said he was happy about the new business enterprise in Kokopo.
He added that they would continually strive to improve their goods and services to the community of Kokopo who they not only regard as customers but as friends.
“We are looking at many more collaborative business ventures in the future not only with landowners companies in Lihir but also with the PNG business community.”
