ONE of the pioneer missionaries of the Apostolic Church of PNG passed away in Enga’s Laiagam district last Friday.

Pastor Nai Miukun served the church as a pioneer missionary and church leader in different parts of the Enga province for 57 years. He startedwhen the church was established in the province.

Pr Miukun was serving as a district superintendent for Laiagam when he passed away last Friday.

General superintendent of the church Pr Jack Lome said during the funeral service in Mt Hagen that Miukun was one of the three pioneer church leaders converted straight after the Australian missionaries established the church at Mamale village in the Laigam district.

“I have come to know Miukun since 1974. He was more concerned about the affairs of the church than his own interest,” he said.

Lome said Miukun was a visionary leader and pillar of the church who discharged his duties faithfully to enable the church to achieve its vision.

He said Miukun wanted to see young leaders moving the church to the next level.

He said Miukun died after he had made known his intention to resign as a district superintendent.

“Late Pr Miukun died a happy man because his vision was fulfilled as many young leaders are now taking over the church,” he said.

He urged the young leaders to learn from the good examples shown and display by the late leader.
