Appeal to include Koim

PORT Moresby Rugby League deputy chairman Wari Varage has called on the PNG Hunters management to consider Port Moresby Vipers prop Samuel Koim as a late inclusion in their 2018 lineup.
“This appeal is based on my assessment of Koim who performed to a high standard in last year’s Digicel Cup and Port Moresby Rugby League season,” Varage said.
He said after the departure of the Albert brothers and the retirement of Esau Siune as well as the release of David Loko and Henry Wan, coach Michael Marum needed to add more size to their pack.
“I always stand at the sideline and watch Vipers play during Digicel Cup games and the PRL competition games. I noticed Koim, the only outside player playing for the local Hanuabada Hawks. He should be considered for the Hunters team.
“He plays an important role in the Vipers as captain,” Varage said.
“I watched his footy with Vipers and he plays like the current Hunters forward Enock Maki.”
Varage said with his style of football he helped Hawks to make it to the PRL grand final last season.
“I am very confident that with Marum’s wide experience and guidance, Koim can be an asset to the Hunters especially in a forward pack that has lost a lot of experienced and talented players.”
Varage said Koim has size and good speed for a big man.
“In Australia don’t forget they go for size and speed in the engine room,” he said.
