TEACHER applications requesting to teach in East New Britain (ENB)will be screened this week by the East New Britain education board (PEB), an official says.
East New Britain education adviser Alkan Mararang told The National that the screening would not only be for teachers based in ENB but those from other provinces who were interested teaching in the province.
Mararang said the PEB would meet this week to deliberate on teacher postings, especially of new graduates.
He said the meeting would need to be held tomorrow or Friday as the school year was set to start on Jan 31.
“We are currently processing applications whereas for now we have a total of 39 requests from new graduates with eight applications requesting to teach in high schools and the rest to primary schools,” he said.
Mararang said applications from new graduates would have to be screened by the board before selection based on employment requirements.
“The previous years these have been the major issues in the province with our education system.”
“All the applications should be finalised and confirmed before the start of the academic year as we still have some more teachers, both new graduates and existing teachers, are yet to put in their applications.”
