TEACHERS in Madang will know where they will teach by next week, according to sidelined provincial education director Moses Sariki.
Sariki said yesterday that the problems of postings, leave fares and the selection of grade nines were not done on time because of a lack of funding by the provincial government.
He said the provincial education division had written to the provincial government asking for funds but he did not know why funds were not released.
Sariki said that was why the postings were not done on time.
He said the postings had been completed but needed to be taken to Port Moresby for the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) and the Education secretary to sign and certify.
Sariki said he was sorry for the inconvenience these delays had caused, especially for teachers who had travelled in to Madang town to follow up on their postings.
Meanwhile, Sariki assured the teachers that a member of the provincial education board would be travelling to Port Moresby with the province’s posting list to be approved and signed by the TSC chairman and department secretary this week.
He said the grade nine selection was also late because of a lack of funding which resulted in the list being published late.
Sariki apologised for keeping parents and students in suspense.
“I have been sidelined since Nov 13 (2021), but I am still following up on the queries of the teachers and the students.”
