Appointment on merit backed

PUBLIC Service Minister Elias Kapavore’s move to appoint public office holders on merit is highly appreciated.
With due respect, the good minister now needs to make permanent appointment of heads of Government-owned organisations.
These include National Intelligence Organisation, National Narcotic Bureau and the National Housing Corporation.
The shortlist for the heads of these organisations has been collecting dust under the previous ministerial executive appointments committee (MEAC).
This was after the positions were advertised respectively and names of short-listed candidates submitted to the MEAC.
