Appointment questioned

Letters

I AM concerned with the appointment of primary and elementary school inspectors recruited and sent to Chimbu Province to serve.
School inspectors as I understand must have a Bachelor Degree in Education and served for more than five years as a head teacher.
He/she must fulfil all necessary appraisals conducted by the Education Department inspections division to be appointed as an inspector.
I also believe the current reforms have elevated teachers from certificate to diploma and from diploma to degree and from degree to masters or higher.
And there are stringent selection processes in the department’s human resource division that goes through all application and proper vetting is done to come up with qualified candidate for positions in the provinces.
On that note, the sad scenario in Chimbu is that there are many qualified degree holders serving and performing beyond expectations meeting standards and producing results as head teachers but have been overlooked.
Appointment of those currently serving as inspectors must be question because most of them do not processed degree.
The Education Department must be put on notice that Chimbu is not a dumping ground for unqualified teachers to take up position of Inspector.
We urgently request a public information on those selected and their qualification.
