POLICE have arrested a 23-year-old woman for posting nude pictures of herself on Facebook last October.
East New Britain (ENB) police commander Chief Insp Joseph Tabali said the woman from Takabur ward, Kokopo-Vunamami urban local level government in Kokopo was charged with transmitting pornography to another person under the Cybercrime Act 2016.
The woman was expected to appear in court this week.
Chief Insp Tabali said the alleged offence was committed between 9pm and 11pm on Oct 15 and 23 in the village.
“The woman used a mobile phone camera to take four nude pictures of herself,” he said.
“She sent the pictures to a man via Facebook,” he said.
“The pictures were then circulated on Facebook.
“The circulation of the photos came to the attention of the members of the community early this month.
“The community members were disgusted and very angry with the woman’s action and demanded that the ward member report the matter to the police.”
Insp Tabali said the ward member lodged a police report and the woman was arrested last weekend.
He warned the public to refrain from abusing social media, especially Facebook in sharing explicit and inappropriate content and that police would deal with such offenders according to the law.
“People who are involved in such offences are abnormal,” Insp Tabali said.
“They are sick in the brain.”

  • All of this including the increase of rape cases and incest were triggered by the exposure of pornographic materials which is accessibly free with no restrictions or control in place.
The government or authority in place should look into this and take necessary actions to protect our future generations to come.
lately there is a spike of minors having an affairs which leads to sexual activities that has not been reported, how will our nation survive if a child gave birth to a child nor a child become a father?
This is a serious matter that put our nation at stake.
