THE MORESBY Arts Theatre will be staging its production of Shakespeare’s Henry IV this week.

Director Bob Stanley said the cast and crew were doing final rehearsals for the opening night on Thursday.

He said Henry IV introduced Shakespeare’s most famous comic character Falstaff – a rotund, drunken, jovial and larger than life character.

“It tells the tale of an aging sickly King Henry III beset by rebellion from the North of his Kingdom, and his son Prince Henry IV, who spends most of his time drinking with Falstaff without any concern of his father’s predicament.”

“While many people think of Shakespeare as boring or stuffy, this play will change some people’s mind.

“It is full of comedy and action mixed with wonderful moments.

“The language is of course beautiful and sometimes complex and all will be able to enjoy the different aspects of the show.”

The show will be running for two weeks on Thursdays at 7.30pm and Fridays at 7pm and matinee shows on Saturdays at 1.30pm.
