THE Port Moresby Basketball Association is hoping to re-launch its season at the end of next month, says an official.
Association manager Patrick Ani told The National yesterday that the association would work with Papua New Guinea Sports Foundation’s (PNGSF) venue management under its Covid-19 protocol.
“Plans are in progress and I will be meeting with the PNGSF venue management this week to finalise preparations for a season re-launch,” he said. “Following clarification from PNGSF on the return-to-sport guidelines, we will confirm dates for competition to start.
“At this stage, we are taking team nominations and registrations for the senior regular season which is likely start by the end of next month.
“Team nominations and registrations for other respective age divisions will be sent to each team upon their request.” Meanwhile, PNGSF has put in place five return-to-sport phases to mitigate the risk of Covid-19. With state of emergency being lifted, PNGSF is expected to make announcements in the coming weeks on the third return-to-sport phase which will see venues opened and competitions resume but with strict measures.
