Association vows to support teachers in ratings

THE PNG Teachers Association (PNGTA) is supporting teachers who claim they had not been properly and fairly rated by school inspectors, president Aita Senengkepe says.“Teachers were not represented at the national rating conference and we do know if the teachers were rated fairly. We will help teachers who think that they were not rated properly,” he said. “If it means to take legal action against the inspectors, we will do so.”Education Department secretary Dr Uke Kombra said earlier the conference was for inspectors only to meet and rate teachers. “The legal persons at the conference are not the secretary, the minister, PNGTA or church agency representatives,” he said. “The people required to be there to assess the teachers’ performance are the inspectors,” Dr Kombra added.
