Association’s deal bringing in service

Letters

THE Pohowa landowners association on Manus Island deserve a huge congratulation from all levels of Government for striking a deal with a logging company to construct a road worthy of our people’s movement in and out Lorengau.
To Sokou Koki, Paul Mwisuo, Dickson Kanau and the team, I thank you all for striking a wonderful deal despite the loss of our natural forest and timber.
You and the responsible logging company have brought in light, heavy equipment, electricity supply and a road into an area forgotten by successive provincial and National Governments since European civilisation.
You all deserve a huge pat on the back by those in authority and those who will use the road in the future.
As a child, I had always walked the length of Manus island during school break, rising from Lorengau at 3am in the morning and arriving at Chapasa at 5pm in the evening, tired and hungry.
Sometimes when accompanied by my siblings and relatives from both the Manus and Papitalai High School, we would sleep overnight in either NJekal or Pi’Ri villages before completing the journey next day to Chapasa and Pelipowai.
We thank our good people along the way from Nrosun, Sapon, Lunret, Karun, Iringou, Ndranou, Tingou, Kawa and Ndroyah for your wonderful greetings, your offer for food and night accommodation when we the Pohowa school children passed by through your territories. God has richly blessed you with education and health services. We the Pohowa people have always been at the end of the tunnel until now.
To the people of Kawa, Tingou and Buyang, we had accommodated for your needs at the beginning of the European civilisation in education, health, politics and in business.
You can kindly repay these favours in due course.
Thank God, we can now drive our vehicles, a major bonus for our mothers to hit the Lorengau market.
Well done my brothers!
