Atlas Steel awarded fencing contracts

ATLAS Steel PNG has been awarded the contract to supply security fencing to Motukea (Port Moresby), Daru (Western) and Buka (Autonomous Region of Bougainville) ports.
Earlier this month, the Australian government announced a K26 million grant to equip the ports with security systems.
State Enterprises Minister William Duma had said the country needed to be equipped as demand for sea trade increases and global market demands picked up.
Atlas Steel PNG’s business development manager Aliraza Aga said: “Under the PNG Ports safety and security upgrades programme funded by the Australian government, Atlas Steel PNG have been awarded the contract to supply over five kilometres of security fencing to secure Motukea, Daru and Buka ports.
“For this project, we are contracted to supply hot-dip galvanised Palisade fencing complete with gate posts and all accessories.
“As a special security feature, this fencing comes with self-breaking security nuts to brace the fencing from any damage or theft.
“Palisade fencing is a high-security perimeter solution and is the natural choice for a strong and durable fencing option. We have, over the years, been associated with PNG Correctional Services, Royal PNG Constabulary, and National Airports Corporation.”
