Attack on Nene cowardly

Letters

THE cowardly attack on Nene Macdonald by one sick and jealous individual has created so much distress for Nene, his family, friends, fans and general public at large.
It is appalling that police officers who attended the incident let the offenders go without charging them.
Their failure to uphold the law raises questions about the ability of the police to keep our communities safe.
Nene did not deserve to be treated with such disrespect and violence, after leading the Kumuls to victory against the England Knights earlier in the day.
In fact, no one deserves to be treated that way.
Papua New Guineans love the Kumuls, and Nene has always been the crowd favourite since last year’s World Cup.
Nene’s decision to not wear the Kumuls jersey again will be a big loss for PNG.
Local PNG players are finding it difficult to break into the NRL, and players of Nene’s calibre are hard to find.
PNG cannot afford to lose Nene Macdonald.
Police brutality needs to be stopped, and PNG does not need cowards in the police force.
The cowardly individual who attacked Nene truly lacks
the attributes of a true police officer.
His conduct goes against his code of practice and the oath he took to serve, protect and uphold the law.
PNG Rugby Football League, please use your resources to ensure such elite sporting individual does not lose trust and faith in your administration.
Your action now will set a precedence for the future.
