Attack on Parliament

Letters

SEEING our iconic Parliament House stormed and damaged by protesting Apec task force security officers on Tuesday last week brought tears to many who identify with the building.
However, for an ethnic group like the people of Gimi, Okapa, in Eastern Highlands, to show their sorrow by rubbing mud on their faces as they would do back home in the village during times of bereavement is unfortunate and uncalled for.
Okapa MP Saki Soloma comes from the Gimi area and it’s shameful if people had done that with his knowledge because Port Moresby is a metropolitan city and not a place for village custom.
As an Okapian, although I feel for the Parliament building, I disagree with this particular group’s glory-seeking attitude.
Please Papua New Guinea, forgive us the innocent Okapians and the Eastern Highlanders because the group did not represent the whole province.

NOW they feel it, our good disciplined forces.
I thought they did not know how corrupt our government is.
During the 2016 student’s crisis with the government, the officers opened fire on the students who were doing something good for the future.
Sorry, the government don’t know us.

IT is disappointing to see on television and public media, even on the world news what our law enforcement officers did.
It was unlawful and against theconstitution of our country.
If they were serious then they should have followed set protocols to sort out their problem.
There needs to be an investigation so we can uproot these weeds in the disciplined force.
If they are given a second chance then I’m sorry because our country will fall apart.
No one should tolerate what happened in our sacred House. Let the law take its cause and the problem should be solved peacefully.
