FEMALE artistes have been urged to make their mark on the local music industry.

PNGFM general manager Adrian Au said this as music lovers look forward to the Digicel YUMIFM music awards tomorrow in Port Moresby.

Au said the award recognised the development and growth in the music industry and the only thing lacking was the representation of female artists at the awards.

“Female artistes must make an effort to establish themselves and make their presence known,” he said.

The awards will be held at the Port Moresby Country Club.

During a press conference yesterday, PNGFM assured its sponsors Digicel PNG and others that it would be an award night not to be missed.

Jason Hershey, the PNG-born musician who still promotes PNG music overseas, thanked PNGFM for appointing him as a Hall of Fame artiste.

He said it was a great honour and a privilege to be given the award.

“I have never been awarded such and this means so much to me,” Hershey said.
