EAST New Britain Governor Ereman ToBaining Jnr now has full control of his province’s Public Support Improvement Programme funds, administrator Akuila Tubal said.

He was commenting on a system audit report compiled by the Auditor General’s Office last month.

He said the report recommended correction of basic processes.

Tubal said those errors were corrected and approved by the provincial executive council and have been implemented.

“ToBaining is the chairman of the steering committee that approves projects under PSIP funds and he is now in full control of it,” Tubal  said.

The audit revealed that last year ToBaining and the regional MP and Deputy Prime Minister Chief Leo Dion were accessing the funds, with each having separate projects.

That had created a situation where the province had two governors.

It highlighted an unauthorised arrangement that had split the funds between Dion and ToBaining was illegal.
