NATIONAL men’s team member Charles Amini Jr says he is thrilled to play in Brisbane again after being signed by Sandgate-Redcliffe Gators in Queensland’s premier cricket competition in Australia.
He will be joined by fellow Barramundis all-rounder Norman Vanua and Chad Soper for the Gators’ campaign in the upcoming Twenty-20 (T20) Max competition.
“It’s always good to be playing a high standard of cricket,” Amini told The National yesterday.
“It’s another opportunity to showcase our skills.
“To also be doing that with a couple of the Barramundis players is something I’m looking forward to.
“The contract is just for two to three weeks, but I’m very excited for them. It will also give them the exposure that we need. One of us could get a contract with one of the Big Bash teams in Australia.”
Meanwhile, the Barramundis left Zimbabwe yesterday after finishing third in the T20 World Cup qualifiers. They will arrive in Port Moresby on Thursday.
“We will be back in Port Moresby for a few weeks before we leave for Darwin to compete in a revamped 365 programme next month,” Amini said.
“We are yet to be notified about when we’ll join Gators for the T20 Max competition.”
Gators said they were happy to have secured three players with international and World Cup experience to bolster their campaign.
