Aussie, PNG depts sign MoU

THE Department of Environment and Conservation and Australia’s Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities formally sealed their relationship with the signing of an MoU yesterday.
The signing by Iamo and Australia DSEWPaC deputy secretary Kimberely Dripps aimed to strengthen ties and encourage the exchange of environment protection, conservation, and heritage information and skills.
Iamo said there was co-operation between Australia and PNG in the areas of heritage, including the Kokoda Initiative, the marine environment that was the Coral Triangle Initiative, the prevention of illegal wildlife trade and meteorology.
He said the signing was a significant step in strengthening the existing cooperation through sharing of policy and technical experience, information exchange and capacity-building.
