A LOCALLY-owned travel service operator Haren Travel Services, based in Port Moresby, has come out again this year to sponsor dux prizes for more than 36 schools in the National Capital District.
Sales and marketing officer Francis Michael said since 2009, Haren Travel services had been engaged by the National Capital District as a travel agent coordinating more than 1,200 teachers’ leave fares from five vocational schools, nine secondary schools and 41 primary schools.
He said since then, the company had decided to give back something to the schools as partners.
Michael said as part of their initiative, more than 36 schools had been identified to be provided prizes for their dux students.
He said the prizes would be given out to the respective schools starting today as part of their aim to also support and encourage competition and better academic performance from students.
He said Haren Travel Services also donated money to assist teachers during important occasions such as the International Teachers’ Day, teachers’ end of year party, morning tea for teachers and the sponsorship of certain events.
He said the company had also supported schools with sets of computers and other IT equipment.
A recent donation was made to Nipa Secondary School in the Southern Highlands.
