AUSTALIA is committed to partner Papua New Guinea through the bottom-up approach at the rural areas in development programmes, says High Commissioner Bruce Davies.
Australia is always a true friend of PNG in advancing PNG’s development programmes in health and education, and establishing mutual understanding between the two countries.
Davies made these remarks after paying a visit to the project site of the South Western Pacific University in Ialibu-Pangia district and Yombi Primary School in Imbonggu district with Imbonggu MP and Higher Education Research Science and Technology Minister Pila Niningi on Tuesday.
He was impressed with the cultural diversity showcased by the local singsing groups when welcoming him and his staff.
“It is my first time to experience firsthand the rich cultural diversity of the Highlands people.
“We are now looking at bringing our partnership programmes between the people of Australia and PNG to the rural areas.
“Seeing that your MP has innovative ideas to change the system of education in this country, we are very excited to forge partnerships from the rural level up.”
