DEPARTMENT of Lands and Physical Planning and the Australian government have signed an agreement for a modernisation programme to be undertaken to make services easier for people.
Lands Minister Justin Tkatchenko said that under that programme, the Australian government was sponsoring a technical adviser who would be carrying out an audit into the department over the next six months.
He said the new consultant technical adviser would go through every division of Lands, looking at ways of improving and modernising those sections.
“He will look at the good and bad, the problems they are facing and how to correct and modernise the department,” Tkatchenko said,
“Upon completion of a full audit and once he gives his recommendations, the Australian government will assist to fund and implement those recommendations for the department, be it upgrading equipment, technology and services, the main aim is to make the department 10 times better.
“This is big, its great news, while I’m minister.
“I want to make sure that the public have a more-modernised and easier system.
“Cut out the red tape when they come in here.
“They will be served and have access to information 10 times easier.
“They audit will give us a full update on where we are going wrong, what we need to do to correct it and how we are going to correct it.”
Tkatchenko said the Australian government would also assist to correct those procedures in the department.
“It’s a great working relationship with Australia,” Tkatchenko said.
“We look forward to recommendations after full investigations and audit of all the divisions in the department.
“We want to clear out the negative perceptions.”
