Australian’s trial adjourned

THE Boroko District Court yesterday postponed the trial of Australian Sean Honey to Tuesday because a police witness was still away from Port Moresby.
Magistrate Seth Tenai told the prosecutor to make sure all witnesses were present on the day as the case was supposed to have been closed yesterday. The prosecutor said police is a government department and they depended on the availability of funding to bring in the witness.
Honey is charged with six counts of possession of live bullets, unlicensed guns, high-powered firearms and dangerous drugs.
Honey’s bail was extended.
He is also charged with smuggling in about 168kg of methamphetamine, known as crystal or kambang, worth K90 million.
Police had conducted a search of his premises at the BSA Construction site at Baruni Road in Port Moresby.
