AUTHORITIES want eye witnesses or anyone with information on the alleged abduction and gang-rape of a 15-year-old girl in Port Moresby to come forth.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for National Capital District and Central Anthony Wagambie, NCD Governor Powes Parkop, the city manager and other people are seeking more information on the incident between Hohola and Waigani.
Offenders remain at large.
“I appeal to the bus driver and crew, if they are genuine, to come to the police and assist in the investigation,” ACP Wagambie said.
“I warn them that one way or the other, the police will track down the bus.
“I appeal to anyone who may have been on the bus that day to come and assist police with the investigation. We will give utmost effort with investigations to locate the perpetrators. This can be made much easier with the support of the community.”
ACP Wagambie said it was at the Waigani Stop n Shop bus stop that the girl had realised that passengers had got off the bus, leaving only the men or youths onboard.
“She was seated in front, opposite the driver,” he said. “She realised that the bus was held up and directed to take the left turn from the Waigani Tunnel towards Hohola.”
The bus was stopped “there and the victim was forced out and taken up towards Garden Hill and past Hornibrooks.”
Parkop was horrified that no arrest had been made and demanded that all stakeholders cooperate with police so arrests could be made. He warned of drastic measures if cooperation was lacking.
