Parish to resume mass after 3 years

THE Catholic Church will stage its first Sunday service at Mun Parish in the Dei electorate of Western Highlands after three years because of an ongoing tribal fight over a coffee plantation ownership, the church says.
This will be the first time to see Christians from the neighbouring tribes at the service at Mun.
The Mun Parish was closed in 2019 after the Kimka and Rolgoka tribes confronted each other in a fierce gun battle which claimed at least 50 lives and loss of properties over the Dirty Wara Coffee Plantation.
Dean of the Hagen Central Denary Fr Robert Nolie said this would be the first time to see Christians come together after three years.
He said the service would bring together the people so that could restore peace.
“We are expecting those from other neighbouring tribes to attend as well because their presence will make a lot of difference,” Fr Robert said.
He said Archbishop of the Hagen Diocese Bishop Douglas Young would be attending the service.
