Authorities urged to report teachers’ offences

THE Teaching Service Commission is urging responsible authorities and stakeholders to report offences committed by teachers.
Teaching Service Commission principal legal adviser Joel Nava raised the issue after not receiving any reports from the provincial education boards, school inspectors or district administrators for the past five years.
Nava said offences committed by teachers had not been effectively addressed by responsible people.
“These offences include those criminal in nature as well as those that are merely disciplinary offences. The ineffectiveness in handling these offences starts with reporting.”
