NAWAEB Development Authority (DDA) in Morobe under the chairmanship of MP Kennedy Wenge on Sunday presented two vehicles to be used for Covid-19 response in the district.
Despite not being logistically prepared in the past, the district, with its non-government partners, managed to launch awareness programmes into its three local level government areas.
Wenge, while thanking World Vision and the Healthy Island Concept for taking the lead with the DDA in the first instance, said the threats of the Covid-19 was real and the district should be alert at all times.
“These two vehicles will be used by different sectors to prepare the district well to fight not only the Covid-19 but also other diseases,” he told a small gathering at Boana headquarters.
“The Covid-19 is real and we should be prepared at our end and that is why these vehicles will be a tool to effectively implement activities to fight these infectious diseases at all levels in the district.
“With the country facing this pandemic now and provincial governments are doing their part in fighting the Covid-19, we at Nawaeb must do our part also.”
Ahi local level government president and provincial fisheries chairman Malcolm Kalo, in thanking the DDA for its support, urged that the vehicles be used to serve its purpose wisely.
“These are the tools that the district really need for its fight against Covid-19 and other infectious disease,” he said.
