Authority to check businesses

THE Immigration and Citizenship Authority will be conducting spot-checks on businesses in Lae this week to see if everyone is operating legally.
A statement from the authority said since the establishment of its office in Lae five years ago, no such checks had been conducted in the “industrial hub”.
There are foreign-owned business mainly small and medium ones operating there.
The authority will be assisted by the police and other State agencies.
They will check on the visa status of foreigners to see if it had been breached.
