It will be attended by conservationist, developers, researchers, policy makers and protected-area practitioners to discuss biodiversity conservation and development issues. Ted Mamu, the technical coordinator for the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (Jica) said proceedings from the seminar would contribute to the improvement of policies and strategies to strengthen and improve protected area management and conservation in PNG.
“The seminar is to promote research and conservation by Papua New Guineans and to promote the dissemination and publication of research findings and lessons learnt widely in the country through improving networking and collaboration amongst like-minded people and organisations,” he said.
The seminar is sponsored by Cepa-Jica biodiversity project, ExxonMobil PNG and PNG Mama Graun Conservation Trust Fund.
