THE level of education in Wewak district has dropped over the years because there have been no inspections, says MP and Inter-Government Relations Minister Kevin Isifu.
He told a gathering at Banak Primary School outside Wewak town on Friday that his district development authority had embarked on strengthening inspections to be conducted by the two standard officers in the electorate.
Isifu said they should use the boat and vehicle bought by the DDA for inspections at all schools in Wewak district.
Banak Primary School board chairman Otto Sauiembi has asked the Government to establish a junior high school for the community.
Established in 1967, Banak is in dire need of rehabilitation.
Minister for National Planning and Yangoru Saussia MP Richard Maru, who saw the rundown state of the facilities when he visited, committed K500,000 for the school’s redevelopment.
