Aviation firm partners with North Fly to help farmers

PEOPLE in North Fly will be able to sell garden produce such as fruits and vegetables in Kiunga thanks to a partnership between the district authority and Kobio Aviation.
The partnership was the result of the establishment of an agribusiness entity by the district development authority to assist farmers in bringing their produce to Kiunga town.
North Fly MP James Donald said the North Fly Agro Ltd (NFAL) took a risk in making a difference in agribusiness by partnering with Kobio Aviation to supply fruits and vegetables to Kiunga.
“The collaboration between NFAL and Kobia Aviation is to transport fresh produce from four areas – Mt Hagen, Oksapmin, Bak and Tekin – to Kiunga,” Donald said.
Donald said NFAL planned to carry out upscale farming on fruits.
The NFAL is owned by the 115 wards in the district and was established as the district’s agribusiness arm.
“Every citizen in North Fly must get back to agriculture and grow our own company,” Donald said.
Kiunga is a port town along the Fly River where most supplies for the Ok Tedi gold and copper mine are ferried into the mining township of Tabubil.
