THE Krevanofi Women’s Coffee Farmers partnership in Henganofi in Eastern Highlands has opened a bank account to help it supply coffee through a Coffee Industry Corporation (CIC) project.
The project launched by the CIC’s agricultural commercialisation and diversification (PACD) on Jan 15 is expected to benefit more than 530 households in the district.
The Krevanofi Women’s Coffee Farmers in Kafetina this year signed an agreement to carry out a partnership project work worth K800,000.
Project coordinator Alphy Semyk said the K800,000 would be broken down into goods and services for coffee production, train people to sell their coffee.
Touching the Untouchables (TTU) is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that carries out health-based training in remote communities to teach people to live a healthy lifestyle through health initiatives.
TTU country director Esther Silas said the 530 households were from wards in Henganofi. Five unregistered coffee farmers will represent the households in the wards to supply coffee.
“We are currently recruiting technical officers and coordinators to run this project by working with the wards. We are registering new members,” she said.
