Aviation to maintain safety standards

THE Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) will ensure the highest safety standards are maintained when they resume flying, says general manager Todd Aebischer.
“These are truly challenging days as the world faces the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
“For MAF in PNG, these days have been further challenged by some recent operational events.
“One of our greatest concerns is the safety of those who place their trust in MAF daily to provide life-saving critical air transportation to isolated communities.
“We are currently undergoing a self-imposed safety stand-down to allow us to evaluate all aspects of our operations and to make appropriate corrections where needed.
“We appreciate the fact that when we’re not flying, there are needs that are unmet.
“We are literally working around the clock with our MAF family of experts to ensure that when our MAF planes return to flying, they are doing so with the utmost standard of safety, excellence and professionalism.” Aebischer said they were praying that when the Covid-19 state of emergency restrictions are lifted, MAF would be resume supporting communities.
