Awarding of PNG honours queried

Letters

WHAT is going on with these Queen’s Honours awards?
These honours are supposed to be for people who have done considerable free-time work for communities in Papua New Guinea.
Own time.
Own effort.
Own money.
Not paid employment.
There are far too many awards being given out to people who are just doing their paid work.
Working for Air Niugini for 20 odd years is paid employment and should not count for an award.
Commercial travellers are paying for a service.
They are not general members of the community in need of assistance
The same goes to working in the police and defence forces. That’s your paid job.
If you are any good, your employer will recognise the work and reward you accordingly.
That has nothing to do with the Queen.
Stop making a joke of the awards.
It’s about time nominations were more closely vetted against set community criteria.
