A COMPANY is continuing to help and support its local workers in the education of their children, plus other family expenses.
Celebrating the 48th Independence Day anniversary last Thursday in Port Moresby, Badili Hardware chairman Ashok Kumar said: “Badili Hardware is a strong believer in the PNG workforce and its potential to influence the education of its employees’ children.
“We believe that supporting national workers is also an important way of supporting the education of their children, which is something Badili Hardware focuses on – a family-orientated approach to business.”
Kumar said the company employed about 250 people of which 90 per cent were Papua New Guineans.
He added that the company helped employees with school fee assistance supported loans for employees to buy building materials for their family homes.
The company started operating in Port Moresby 28 years ago with seven employees.
It also opened a second branch in Lae in 2016.
It focuses on importing quality products for homes and commercial building needs.
He added that building materials like timber were locally sourced.
The majority of the company’s materials and products are imported.
Kumar hopes that the foreign exchange (forex) restriction in the country will be fixed quickly.
