THE National Capital District Commission (NCDC) has given K1 million to support the World Indigenous Business Forum in Port Moresby next month.
National Capital District (NCD) Governor Powes Parkop said it was the biggest amount it had given so far.
“Supporting and investing in this forum is part of our commitment towards supporting our people because it not only brings all indigenous businesses together but can also transform and shape the way we do business,” Parkop said.
“We are here to partner in this forum in regards to supporting our indigenous businesses to achieve that national outcome, especially for the small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) and the economy.”
He said the forum was an opportunity for PNG people to connect with parts of the world.
“This is a challenge for us in respect of promoting our indigenous businesses and getting our people to part take in the economy,” he said.
Parkop said business was an area the country must progress.
“If we look at the past years, we have not progress well in the business sector in terms of the control and ownership of the economy,” he said.
“However this forum will create a platform and opportunity for the country and its indigenous businesses, especially SMEs and MSMEs to transform and advance.”
