SMALL-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) will have the opportunity to expose their business ideas at the World Indigenous Business Forum in Port Moresby next month.
International Trade and Investment Department acting secretary Jacinta Warakai-Manua said it “brings our attention to the development of indigenous business around the world”.
The forum started in 2011 in New York, United States. PNG is the 13th country to host it.
She said the Government’s support for the event “will send positive signals to our small, medium-sized enterprises and micro, small, medium-sized enterprises in PNG”.
“Those who have already paid their registration to be part of this forum are from that sector. It gives an opportunity for our small SMEs and micro SMEs to connect with other indigenous businesses by sharing experience, ideas and connect,” she added.
International Trade and Investment Minister Richard Maru said they had set a target of K7 million to host the event.
“We still have more to raise to reach our target with public and private sponsors coming on board to support,” he said.
Maru welcomed the Government’s support for the event.
