THE bail application in court by a police officer involved in investigating allegations against police commissioner David Manning has been withdrawn because he has already been released on a K1,000 police bail.
The committal court was told that the application was filed on Thursday after Detective Senior Sgt Tinol Pakiapon was refused bail by the police.
But in the afternoon, information came through that police had granted him bail.
Sgt Pakiapon appeared in court with two guarantors.
According to his police bail request form, he was charged him with causing disaffection to the constabulary under the Police Act.
Prosecutor Sgt Peter Samghy also confirmed that Sgt Pakiapon had been released on police bail.
“With consent from both parties, the application for bail that was filed for the accused is now withdrawn,” Magistrate Paul Puri Nii said.
“I will arraign the defendant on Monday (today), because today (Friday) is only for bail matters.”
Magistrate Nii converted the police bail to court bail and extended it to today (Monday) for arraignment.
