TALL timber Tiata Baldwin will add shooting power to the national netball team after being named in the Pacific MMI Pepes squad yesterday.
Following a two-day trial at the Sir John Guise Indoor Complex over the Easter weekend, the 22-year-old Brisbane-based Pepe was recalled with 14 other players who will be competing at the Pacific Netball Series in Samoa in June.
Baldwin made her comeback after missing out in 2007 and 2008 because of other commitments.
She was part of the team to the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in 2010.
“I guess it’s just to improve the standard of the game so that together we can all be great netballers,” she said.
“I know many would say winning, and yes I would love to achieve everyone’s goals of winning every game, but realistically to me every game, every tournament, every opportunity is a stepping stone to making you a better athlete and netballer.
“As you grow in the game, the team grows and results start to come. I am very excited. I am looking forward to the PNS,” Baldwin said.
