Ban betel nut in towns, cities

Letters

CHEWING of betel nut should be banned in all towns and cities in Papua New guinea.
Just look at the spittle, stench and rubbish caused by this small nut.
Many who chew it are careless and do not take ownership of their rubbish.
Even the highly educated people do not take a moment to consider where they dispose their waste.
Betel nut waste is dispersed everywhere, causing a lot of problems for the authorities and those who are mindful of their health and hygiene.
Infrastructure worth millions of kina are painted with betel nut spittle; it is an eyesore.
I wonder how our friends from other countries are taking this.
The efforts of responsible government authorities, especially National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop and his team to clean up and beautify our capital city, are not fully appreciated.
If we have working brains, we should be using them and be responsible.
Do not argue with me on the monetary benefits from the sale of betel nuts, rather look at our health and wellbeing.
