Bangladeshi shop manager killed in robbery laid to rest

THE 32-year-old Bangladeshi store manager who was stabbed to death in a robbery in Gerehu Mart (Gmart) on Thursday (second day of New Year) was safely buried in his Munsiganj village in Dhaka on Saturday.
Bismillah Holdings Ltd general manager Salman Tasfin said Gmart had lost Ridoy Hason, a young, energetic, hardworking and meticulous man.
Hason was married but childless.
“We are shocked by the killing and existing employees are still trying to come to terms with reality,” he said, adding that the robbers who raided the store fled without taking any cash from the day’s takings. “We have invested millions of kina and had been in operation here for more than 20 years.
“We employ more than 100 locals,” Tasfin said.
He said Bismillah had been promoting good relations with the people of Gerehu and Port Moresby and “we want to be a helpful to the community and look forward to contribute more to the county”.
“The National Capital District governor Powes Parkop must look into measure to effective ensure the safety of businesses,” Tasfin said.
Bismillah operations manager Jackson Viti said it was a first time such a tragic incident had happened in Gmart.
