UNIONPAY card holders will soon be able to access services via Bank South Pacific ATM and Eftpos machines after an agreement was made in Port Moresby.
Last week, BSP and UnionPay International launched a service for UnionPay Quick Pass.
Through this partnership, BSP will start coverage for UnionPay that will reach almost all its 500 ATMs and more than 11,000 Eftpos terminals by early next year.
BSP Eftpos devices will be configured to accept UnionPay’s chip-enabled cards for contactless transactions.
BSP’s ATM terminals will accept UnionPay chip-enabled cards with the use of a PIN.
In partnership with more than 1800 institutions worldwide, UnionPay cards are accepted in 170 countries and regions, making it one of the largest payment networks by the value of transactions processed.
UnionPay International provides high quality, cost-effective and secure cross-border payment services to the world’s largest cardholder base and ensures convenient local services to a growing number of global UnionPay cardholders and merchants.
UnionPay scheme cards can only be used in the UnionPay network and other networks that have signed contracts with UnionPay International.
