PRIVATE Companies Netball Competition champions Bank South Pacific beat a determined Kina Bank 17-15 in their second round premier grade match at the Rita Flynn Indoor courts on Sunday.
BSP, with experienced shooters of Jacklyn Hape and Renagi Mulina, combined effectively in the circle to register vital points in the crucial stages when the opposition made a strong comeback.
Kina Bank, led by Kula Iamo, put up commendable performance but unforced errors in mid-court took the momentum away from their attack. BSP shooter Hape potted 10 points and Mulina seven, both from a combined 25 attempts.
For the opposition, Iamo scored 10 points but lacked the support.
BSP led 10-7 at halftime and never relinquished the lead.
In the other matches, Westpac beat Boroko Motors 15-8 and Proclean spiked Post Courier 19-8.
BSP, Proclean and Westpac have the ascendency heading into the finals.
The companies netball competition has a short season with the playoffs four games away.
New elected president Julie Mai is expected to release the finals format early next month.
