A RAMPANT PNG Barramundis easily disposed of Japan last Thursday by 10 wickets in yet another commanding performance at the International Cricket Council’s East Asia Pacific championships in Apia, Samoa.
PNG won the 2009 ICC EAP Men’s Cricket Trophy after earlier claiming Twenty/20 honours.
In the scheduled 50 over match, Japan struggled to 60 all out in 33 overs, which included nine maidens.
Barramundis’ captain Chris Amini (3-6) took three wickets while paceman Loa Nou etched a double (2-18).
In response, PNG’s mindset was both clinical and professional as opening pair and BNG Poreporena teammates in the PNG domestic scene Kapena Arua (13) and Vani Vagi Morea (41) combined to reach the small total in 7.1 overs.
Morea’s innings in particular was display of controlled aggression with devastating results as he hit six 4s and one  six in a methodical 30 minutes at the crease.
PNG’s last match was against Fiji last Friday.
