Pacific MMI backs Raggianas

PACIFIC MMI Insurance has secured the naming rights sponsor and partner to the PNG Raggianas, PNG women’s rugby union team.
The three-year sponsorship deal stands at a total of K150,000 starting this year with initial sponsorship of K50,000.
This announcement was made yesterday by Pacific MMI  Insurance managing director Wayne Dorgan in
Port Moresby.
PNG Women’s Rugby chairperson Cybele Druma and two captains of the Raggianas Joyce Jomis and Kila Karara who were on hand to receive the good news from Dorga and, also had chance to look at the PNG Raggiana jersey, which were worn by our ladies in their recent international outing in which they won the bowl.
Mr Dorgan said the organisation was proud to announce the sponsorship which would propel the Raggianas through the tournaments over the next few years when they represent PNG at the top level of the game.
“For Pacific MMI, being in business is more than just delivering high quality and competitive products and services, it is also about being responsible corporate citizen within the community in which we operate.”
He added that Pacific MMI had taken a leadership position in terms of social responsibility
through this initiative.
Druma commended Pacific MMI for the support they gave to the women’s competition.
She said most of the time in sports more recognition was given to man’s sports and the backing would support the women’s code in the country.
Druma also pointed out that a training squad had already been selected for the Oceania Sevens in Tahiti and other upcoming events.
