Basketball federation seeks candidates to fill vacancies

THE Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea is looking to fill several vacancies for its executive officer, administration officer and a high performance and events officer positions.
The federation revealed on social media that the executive officer position which was left vacant since last year with the resignation of Joel Khalu, is still vacant with others that need to be filled up immediately.
The BFPNG executive officer will be responsible for implementing its strategic plan to increase the number of people playing basketball in Papua New Guinea and increase the operational effectiveness of the federation to promote basketball in the country.
The executive officer must also ensure that the executive committee made up of the president, vice-president, treasurer and secretary are provided with regular updates on the implementation of the strategic plan.
Other positions include the administration officer, who will be responsible for supporting the executive officer, the Hoops for Health programme and provide administrative support to the federation.
The administrative officer will be responsible for communications and marketing apart from running of the BFPNG office.
The high performance and events officer will be responsible for implementing the BFPNG annual calendar of competitions and events which include the delivery of the national 3×3 and 5-a-side basketball events.
The high performance and events officer will also assist in appointing national team coaches and managers to ensure the Papua New Guinea national team have the best chance in success at international events.
The federation, in a statement, said the right candidate must have a good background knowledge on the sport of basketball for the positions.
