BLACK Bass earned a gold pass to advance to the second round of the Ipatas Cup’s New Guinea Islands leg in Kimbe on Saturday after winning the East New Britain leg in Kokopo over the weekend.
Black Bass beat Keleone Panthers 24-0 in the final on Sunday.
Competition manager Sam Koi said the second round this weekend would see teams from Kimbe along with Black Bass compete for the NGI leg with the winner advancing to the Eastern End finals in Lae.
Koi said a lot of talent had been on show during the ENB leg and commended all players and teams for their efforts.
He said some players had already been identified by Digicel Cup scouts and this was the whole idea of the Ipatas Cup concept.
He said he was happy with the turnout of teams over the two days of competition.
Black Bass received K8,000 along with the pass. He said the money was to help with meeting their travel and accommodation costs in the next round in Kimbe.
