Battle for minor title heats up

THE Hanuabada Hawks and Kone Storm clash in a battle for the minor premiership in Round 18 of the Port Moresby Rugby League competition this weekend.
Matches for the round will be played at the National Football Stadium’s oval two and the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium.
The unbeaten Lalokau Fm Hawks face off with the Storm at the SHMS tomorrow in a fixture that should attract a sizable crowd given that both sides are based in the Konedobu area.
With two rounds left before the finals, the Hawks look to have the minor title sown up but any stumbles could see the Storm take over.
The Hawks will take the field fresher after a bye but the Storm are battle tested and have the knack of nullfiying sides with their relentless defence and ability to grind down sides.
They beat Magani 10-4 last week in a hard tussle at NFS Oval 2 and would have the edge in preparedness.
PRL’s operations manager Meke Maino says with two rounds wremaining the race to finish on top of the regualr season is practically a two-horse race.
The other interesting clash of the round sees Richard Waigambi’s Paga Panthers take on Butterflies.
The Panthers are set to unleash their impressive backs in fullback Junior Bobby and winger Farisha Richard, who have been in good form over the last half of the season.
In the women’s main game, the Paga women will take on the Butterflies and if the Panthers win than they will maintain their second spot on the ladder.
Paga beat the Storm 10-0 last week and would be buoyed by that performance.
