POLICE in the National Capital District are appealing to authorities issuing liquor licences to come up with regulations to control the sale and consumption of alcohol in the capital city.
NCD police operations chief Andy Bawa made the call last Thursday when releasing the names of the six people who died in a car accident on Port Moresby’s Baruni Road.
Empty alcohol containers were found by police in one of the vehicles.
Bawa said many problems reported to police like fights, accidents and deaths were alcohol-related.
“Alcohol abuse has become a big problem in the city,” Bawa said.
“It has become a normal habit,” he said.
