Be on your toes Marape

Letters

THE Supreme Court will soon hand its decision on the election of Prime Minister James Marape.
Speculations of likely events has been on the grapevine as things go back to the drawing board if the court rules in favour of the Opposition Leader Belden Namah.
A controversy theory, almost convincing and now surfacing, is a powerful cabal within the government – that is now holding the controlling cards in the Marape cabinet – is viciously attempting to invalidate former PM Peter O’Neill before the court re-instates the status quo and have him back as PM incumbent for the vote of no confidence to take place.
These are the same people who once controlled a regime for over eight years and ran a cabal within a cabal influencing appointments and deciding who gets what.
They controlled state resources and wealth and by hook and crook had their people in every key government department and state-owned enterprise.
Like a tsunami they were everywhere, deviously spanning their tentacles in every woof and warp of power and for their craft and wily Sir Mekere Morauta spitefully branded them ‘kitchen cabinet.’
PM Marape must not forget the betrayal at the Laguna Camp in the vote of the alternate prime minister just before the vote of no confidence that made him flee to Grand Papua. He must trust no one even they may come as tambus, kandres, bratas or wantok.
These people know power and know well how they can manipulate power to their advantage.
Like sharks, they can scent power miles away and can hit before you know it coming.
Only O’Neill counters them and handles them well.
He starved them of power for almost eight years and now they are prowling back quietly.
